I am back from my Holiday. It wasn't just relaxing as planned. We had an very old cottage on our land with just a few beds in it for extra guest in one room. The other room was used for washing clothes a long time ago but we used it as a junk room. It didn't have a ceiling or floor and was just dark and gloomy. So I asked my dad if I could redo it so I would have my own place and he said YES!
So this is the front of the cottage. On the left side was the extra room with the beds in pink. On the right side was the room for washing without the floor and the ceiling. In the middle of the cottage is a big chimney with a fireplace for the small guest room and a big fire place used for the washing of clothes which work excellent Both room have a different entrance.
This is what the left room looked like with before we started, 2 guest beds and a old sofa and a big table squeezed in:
This is the wall that we took out to the other room:
This is the washing room on the right with no floor or ceiling. Because it didn't have a floor or ceiling we used it as a junk room. You can see the walls are make out of waste timber some places still had wallpaper on it and other stuff. On the left side of the fireplace you see the other side of the wall of the pink wall in the former picture.
So we got all the junk out. We put a ceiling in the junk room and a floor.
I painted the new floors in the pink room and in the junk room the same grey as I painted the windows and the doors. We painted the walls and the ceiling white.
So the pink room now looks like this:
The junk room now looks like this: We have just finished the painting and things, I will be adding curtains and so on:
Here you can see the where we took away the wall to create one big room putting the "junk" room and the pink room together.
So we still have to do some small things to finish the rooms like there will be ledges on the ceiling and the floors and on the right side of the fireplace we prepared plumbing so their will be a sink and a small stove there just to make a cup of tea. The cooking will still be done in the big house.
I can't wait to go back and decorate with some fabrics and so on. The chairs are old and were in a shed. The table was there as well and I repainted it.
It was hard work but I am so happy with it...our own place!
Our friend Peter helped me and my Dh Håkan...thank you!
