I had such a wonderful time in England. I had so much fun and laughed until I cried. It was also very nice to finally meet some colleagues that I only knew from the phone. It is so nice to have faces with the voices on the phone!
So let start at the beginning.
Otto brought me to the lovely hotel here are some pictures of my room:
I waited in the Pub downstairs and had a cup of tea:
I arrived late saturday and went out to dinner with Otto, his wife and some ladies from the Sampler in Haarlem, Holland. I had some lovely Lamb roast with mint sause.. so good!
Here are some pictures of the outside:
I also went on a morning walk. I had to jump over a fence..but I had a nice view over the valley and there was a lott of fog: Everyday we had a lovely full english breakfast. With we I mean ..me, Petra, Mary and her husband Joe:
At ANBO we had a lovely time. I saw the new fabrics and met my collegues:
Otto's wife told me that there was a Cath Kidston shop in town which made me very very happy! I asked Petra and Mary to join me...... So we kidnapped Sally and she took us to the shop...and we shopped! I was so lucky that my shipment to Sweden hadn't left ANBO when we got back so I was able to to squeeze it all in with the help of sweet Daryl who opened all the packages for me again!
I got everything today...2 big boxes of new samples...JUMMY...I love my job!
I would love to swap small 2 by 2 inch pieces of fabric with you for my thimble quilt. Send me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org to get my homeaddress and send me an envelope with pieces of fabric in beige/white brown or pink. I would love it to have a print I can cut out. I will send you back the same number of fabrics and the small template to make your own thimble quilt. I will send you fabrics in the color that you would like (please note I don't have batiks, purples, novelty fabrics etc. please look at my blog and at my quilts to get an idea of what kind of fabrics I have) Let me know if you would like to swap...
I am knitting my sin miedo socks. You can see them here
I have been so spoiled the last weeks with packages and cards that I just had to share:
I got this package from Celine, she went to Prague and bought me these handmade beads. She also bought me ribbons from Liberty in London. I am thinking hard about what to do with these wonderful goodies.
Gerda send me this package with a pattern, fabrics and some chocolates. I can't wait to start this project.
While I am sitting here I am still not quite sure what to write about...
To start with I was thinking about keeping myself working on a more limited number of projects and start with this goal list I told you about in the last post. Can I just say HA! That was a good plan and it lasted almost 2 whole days.
It started with getting my quiltmania magazine in the mailbox. I loved this quilt in the magazine and found myself not being able to think about anything else. So I have now selected some fabrics ..don't know when I will start..but the fabrics where picked out.
Then I thought I would save myself some money and go back to the knittingstore in our town and return some of the wool I have leftover from a project I never completed. HA! I am now working on my new knittingproject and spend 3x as much money as I got back. It is hopefully going to be a shawl. It is so much fun to make, this is the swatch I made:
I also started working again on my Girls Day Out quilt . The start:
On Gerda en Ingrid's blog I read about a easter-SAL. I have been working on a easter-quilt for a couple of years and will maybe join so I might get it finished. It is a Robin Pandolph Design:
I made this bag yesterday, again inspired by the pieces of Gerda's fabric. I loved them so much I just had to make a bag as well of it. I am making my SBS-quilt in these tones, so this will be my official SBS-bag..
I made the top part of a embroidered fabric that I bought at Petra Prins. which makes the bag even more romantic. Some of these fabrics are also in the rest of the bag..
This weekend I am having my class as a favor for my MIL and some of her friends, who wanted to do something new together. So I made these cool kits for them. The fabric is called All-Spice Tapestry from Fig tree. It is the first time that they are going to do some hand piecing so I thought I would make the fabrics looks nice as well as an extra treat. It also has the pattern for the Diamonds Quilt and freezer paper in it.
Tonight I am going to start on my first SBS block...wish me luck...
When I went to Holland in December I showed Gerda some pictures of quilts and we started talking at Petra Prins. We were talking and I offered to trade some special scraps I had, which were just scraps and no problem at all. But she was so sweet and gave me this great tray with goodies, far beyond what I had imagined. I have been thinking what to do with the lovely things she gave me and used some of the fabrics for this pincushion. I am thinking about making a bag or something out of it as well.
I made this pincushion yesterday and it turned out really cute. It has the pincushion part.. 8 pockets for thread spools and then a thread catcher under. The pincushion pattern is from Kristel Salgarollo, the thread catcher is an other old design I had and just combined it.
