I will be using these 2 yarns. The beige is called Kauni and sockyarn from Ancient Threads Farm I don't think I will be able to keep up with the group since I have a little Molly on my lap most of the time. But I love the shawl since its shape is great for staying on your shoulders!
So I came downstairs today and there was the sweet cat on the sofa. Now our cat never is on the sofa..never! And here he was on the sofa looking at me all innocent. So I could see that he moved the ball of yarn that he had played with last time so he could get between the shawl and the ball. So it is a little bit tangled but not much...bad cat. Hope the snow will melt soon so he can play outside..and leave my knitting alone..
This sunday I don't have so much to show you since I have been working on the same things as last week. So instead of a whole episode I will give you a small tour of the babyroom.
I did finish my babyquilt and the quilt for the play-penn. You can see this in the small movie I made of the babyroom. Also Håkan has finished my beautifull rocking chair..and you can see this in the room as well..
Here is what the old chair looked like..in the movie you can see the new version:
I am still working on the socks:
And the shawl:
So hopefully more finished things again next week. I do need to hurry with these presents..
Well I was working on my shawl. I was going upstairs the next day and this is what I found on the floor of the sewingroom:
Zingo my sweet cat had gotten a ball of yarn out of my basket, taken it upstairs and played with it. He normally is a very sweet cat but in the winter when there is too much snow he gets so bored that gets into trouble....
Last Saturday we were babysitting for my friend, who has a little girl called Alice and is 3,5 months old.
When she arrived she looked like this and was coverd in the blanket I knitted for her in the cabin last summer.
Isn't she cute..???.and you need it when it is -22 outisde...
I am also working on my brothers socks and I need to prepare some classes..the last ones before I take some time off...
I wanted to give you a lite inside look into the magic of blocking of lace. For all you non-knitters who read my blog it might be fun to see...
So when you made a lace shawl it looks ugly. Like you can see in the picture it is all bubbly. The size was 50cm x 170 cm
So what you do then is: You put the shawl into water and let it get really wet. You take out the shawl and roll it into a towel and try to take out as much water as you can leaving it moist.
You then put the shawl on a surface you can pin on. I took the guest-bed. You then start then putting tension on it and pinning it out,.. like this:
Dutch: Je legt dan de sjaal op een ondergrond waarop je kunt spelden. Ik heb het gastenbed genomen. Je gaat dan de sjaal spannen en begint met spelden zoals hier: After you pin the whole shawl it will look like this when you leave it to dry:
Dutch: Na het spelden ziet de sjaal er zo uit en laat je deze drogen:
It looks so wonderful now and now the size is: 1m x 2.10. I will try to take some pictures of it tonight if it dries in time!
I am still working hard om my Irtfa shawl. I am so looking forward to finishing it which I hope to do before this weekend.
As you can see it still looks like a mess since it isn't blocked. Also the knitting needle (circular needle) is only 1 meter long so I can't see what it will look like. So it will be a surprise to see when I bind off how big it will get...
You can see how much I knitted since last week by looking at the green marker in de shawl:
