As I wrote before I started my SB'S over. This is how it looks now. It has a brighter white background and a dark pink sashing. I am happy I started over and am now happy with how it looks...
Last week I got a really nice package in my mailbox. I just love getting mail!

It is a big mess in my sewing room but that is because there is a lot of sewing going on (but not for me :-( ). Andrea my cousin is here and we always go a bit insane with the planned projects..we get up early in the morning and keep on sewing into the night with a cup of tea and a lot of talk...
I have started to take my SBS apart...yes...you read it correctly. I didn't like the way some of the blocks were turning out. Some of the background fabrics I had were to busy and the blocks disappeared like this block:
So I am going to change it into a white background, the same one for all my blocks. It wasn't fun ripping all the seams out but it seems better then to sew 140 blocks and not be happy...right??

Okay...we might be sewing for a while longer, but we will be back tomorrow with an update...

Here is a picture of my first SBS-blocks. I will be making my blocks in pinks. The fabric on the background will be the sashings.
We have a guest at the moment. She will be staying with us for 4 days. It is my husbands niece. She is 13 and has special needs, so no sewing for a while! But they just went to go bowling and shopping, so I have some time to prepare some blocks and maybe will be able to stitch a bit while watching a movie tonight.
Oh...and the class last weekend was a lot of fun..

My Diamonds Quilt is finished. I am so happy! I have been working on it for some time now. With big pauses in between, but really enjoyed making it. It is pieced and quilted by hand.The fabric series is from Moda and called Wuthering Heights. The batting is 100% wool. I quilted it in straight lines so there are new diamonds of the quilting in the diamonds that are pieced. Some pieces are quilted differently:
I also teach this class (hand piecing and pattern making). I usually just had the top with me so I could show the hand piecing better on the backside. But now it is quilted and finished. I washed it yesterday, so finally it is dry, and I can embroider my name and date on the back. I am going to teach this class next weekend, so I am happy it is finished 3 days before the dead-line..that doesn't always happen. It has happend that the binding was sewn on a quilt during the carride to the person who was recieving a quilt..*lol*.
SBS
Yesterday I selected my pieces to start my SBS-quilt. My cousin Andrea is coming next week to Sweden and she is going to go my favorite quilt-shop Petra Prins. So I send her pieces of the fabric I have selected and she will buy me some more to get a bigger collection. Because I would love to use as many different fabrics as possible.

This is my Dear Jane on my Design wall. I really liked working on it sometimes, but I didn't get anywhere anymore and my latest blocks looked really bad. So since I was so annoyed with it, I wanted to give it a rest for a while. So the blocks came down from the wall:
But not just my annoyance made me take the blocks down..but also...the SBS-quilt showed up on my radar.When I talked with Gerda she told me about the SBS-quilt, and I fell in love. Do you know the feeling when you see a quilt and you just love it..and can't wait to start and can't think of anything else...well that is me at the moment,...
The SBS-quilt is short for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler and is from the Elm Creek Novels from Jennifer Chiaverinni. The blocks are 6 inch finished.
I really like to hand piece, but the latest Dear Jane blocks I made where 4.5 inch and some 45 pieces in one block. This did put me a bit of the hand piecing. So now I am really looking forward to start a project with some bigger pieces... I can't wait..Maybe my Dear Jane blocks will look better when I do some more practicing on bigger blocks a while..*lol*
I am still working on the quilting of the diamonds quilt..who knows...maybe today it will be finished..
