Mystery Quilt part one!

Welcome to the mystery quilt for the spring of 2012!

Waiting for Spring Quilt

Maybe you are like me and waiting for the spring. You might also have some scraps lying around. So join me for this mystery quilt and let’s wait for spring together!

Because this is going to be a mystery quilt, some things will be a surprise until the end. You will get a new clue every 2 weeks, and a total of 4 times. So after 2 months you will have all the clues.

 Some things I can tell you:

We will be making a lap quilt: 126 x172 cm or 49x67 inch

The quilt is made out of 2 different blocks and they are 4,5 inch each.

The quilt will be playing with light and dark, so you need to split you scraps into light and dark. (I recommend the light to be very light like a background fabric. I used all my beige fabrics since my dark fabrics are my pastels. Use the same kind of color contrasts if you were making a quilt with star blocks)

The technique I will be describing is for the machine but I will be giving finished sizes so you can make it by hand if you want.

We will be starting with cutting the biggest pieces and work our way down to smaller and smaller scraps. The biggest piece you need is of your dark fabrics: 3x8 inch. The smallest pieces are 1 inch. Please note: when you are cutting your scraps, try and cut in a way so that you can keep pieces left that are as long as possible.  For the next clue you will need to cut strips and it would be a shame if you can’t use your scraps later!

All the sizes are with a ¼ inch seam allowance.

Since we are working with scraps you will need to make an insane amount of pieces sometimes. But the result is worth it!

I want to thank everybody that came to visit me at Syfestivalen. I am so happy with all your positive responses and your kind words! It has really given me an energy boost to do keep on going and do some new wonderful things in the near future!

Home from England!

I had such a wonderful time in England. I had so much fun and laughed until I cried. It was also very nice to finally meet some colleagues that I only knew from the phone. It is so nice to have faces with the voices on the phone!

So let start at the beginning.

Otto brought me to the lovely hotel here are some pictures of my room:

I arrived late saturday and went out to dinner with Otto, his wife and some ladies from the Sampler in Haarlem, Holland. I had some lovely Lamb roast with mint sause.. so good!

I also went on a morning walk. I had to jump over a fence..but I had a nice view over the valley and there was a lott of fog:

Everyday we had a lovely full english breakfast. With we I mean ..me, Petra, Mary and her husband Joe:

At ANBO we had a lovely time. I saw the new fabrics and met my collegues:

Otto's wife told me that there was a Cath Kidston shop in town which made me very very happy! I asked Petra and Mary to join me...... So we kidnapped Sally and she took us to the shop...and we shopped! I was so lucky that my shipment to Sweden hadn't left ANBO when we got back so I was able to to squeeze it all in with the help of sweet Daryl who opened all the packages for me again!

I got everything today...2 big boxes of new samples...JUMMY...I love my job!

Pink and Barbara classes

This week I had 2 classes: the Pink and Barbara Stitchery Club and my Caddy Class.

On Sunday we had the caddy class with 4 ladies that had there first Pink and Barbara Class. This is the wonderfull bags they made:

These ladies are a group of friends that hired me to give a private class and they all knew eachother so well that there was a lot of joking and telling stories.. It was one big laugh from beginning to end!

On a sad note: My computer is still acting up so I hope I will be able to keep blogging. I have been in telephone waiting lines for the past week...I finally got to speak to real person today only to find out that my guarantee expired 3 days ago.... I am so angry. If they had answered the phone when I started ringing I would have had guarantee..enoying or what!?!

Workshops at Villa Vanilla

Hi Everybody!

I had a wonderfull time today. I am so happy because I have a new place to have my classes. It is called Villa Vanilla here in Surahammar and it is a cafe and decoration store. They have some lovely things there and the cakes are to die for! The other place was a bit boring ...but this is so much better. Here are some pictures!

We had our first Treasures from Holland-bee, from the book by Petra Prins. I never mentioned it here on the blog since the group was allready full before I could.. :-)

I will be having all my classes here in the future...since it was so nice...

The stitchery Club

We had the first meeting for the Stitchery Club and we had so much fun. We had a special guest from Holland! We also had cake because my birthday monday.
